I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla with Bluetooth, and an LG-P500 (aka Optimus One). The hands-free phone feature was working after some struggles, then I updated the phone software and it hasn't worked since.

Unlike other reported problems, the phone does connect to the car. When called, the car mutes the radio and displays the calling number. But the sound does not go through the car audio, defeating the whole purpose.

I took the car to the dealer and they couldn't get it to work, but the car worked with two other phone models.

    Any ideas?

    Phone details are below:

    LG-P500 (Optimus One)
    Android 2.2.1
    Kernel version 2.6.32.9

No, I have not resolved the problem. I could connect a Blackberry, but a workmate could not connect his.

It sounds like Toyota has done a poor job of ensuring compatibility.
