For some reason my phone keeps dying when it is charging, it has done it 3 times in the last week. When I go to look at it the power is completely off. This is obviously unacceptable especially in my line of work where I am on call 24 hours/day.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Same thing happened to me while streaming video the other night. When this happens is your phone being used or just charging? If it is just charging you may have a bad connection with the USB

Just Charging, I hope its not a bad USB. I hate getting those crappy Certified Verizon phones.

I would suggest trying a different charger then. It could be the charger and not the port. And hope the wireless charging system is released soon.

Mine was doing the same thing...turned out to be a bad USB cable...

I tried one cable thru a USB port off my PC, no charge. USB cable via the charger, nada. Swapped cables and everything was groovy. Cable that didn't work was one I purchase off of Amazon for $1.99...figures.

Are you using the factory charger or some knock off from ebay? A friend of mine got a generic off Woot or Ebay and her phone would use as much energy during charging almost and barely budge from where it was originally when she plugged it in. Got a specific one for this phone and no more issues.
