What's the upper and lower frequency limit that a mobile phone can operate on. Was thinking I could use my phone to control all sort of simple electronic stuff that has a receiver and accepts a simple code, but I'm unsure of the frequencies a phone can do.

  2. The frequencies are completely random that the phone operates on, so therefore I doubt you would be able to control what frequency it operates on. And, the frequencies that it operate on are all in the cell range, so no other devices run in that range.

Check the specs for the phone you're asking about. Not all phones operate on all the same bands. Specs are published on the manufacturers' sites. I doubt you'll be able to do much. Frequencies for cellular use aren't used by anything else.
