When my D3 is in the Motorola Droid windshield mount, the screen doesn't automatically change view from portrait to landscape. I have the setting for it to do that and it's not. Is there someplace to make it do it?

Are you stock? Running a ROM? Custom modded? I've only run into this with early builds of Maverick ROM IIRC. I've had stock, stock debloated, Maverick (eventually), Monster, Liberty, and SD running in the OEM car dock.

Stock - When I had the D1 it happened but I could go into the dock app and make it default to rotate didn't know if the D3 dock was the same.

My Blur dock when stock took over almost immediately. The only bug I noticed was that it was best to have the car on and dock plugged in or else sometimes it wouldn't rotate.

Well, if you're rooted and want to try a ROM, Liberty has the option for either the Blur or Google car docks, and you can enable the Google one just like an app. It's even in the app drawer. You don't need the dock to get Google Dock working even.

I guess the only time it bothers me is when I'm listening to music and I use winamp and I can't swype to the next song cause it's in the landscape mode and wont change to portrait when I move the phone.

Do you have auto-rotation enabled in settings? On Liberty (my only reference ATM), it's located in settings->display. I don't know if the dock manages to override this. Won't WinAmp work in landscape? Does it have its own settings menu where you could enable auto-rotate?

I do have it set in settings for auto rotate which works fine when it's not in the windshield dock. I also tried the Amazon player for the swype and it doesn't swype between songs when it's in the dock. So the dock must be over riding what ever the settings are. I think in the dock settings it has a choice for auto rotate and I have that selected but still not doing it. Oh well I might just have to deal with it.

Get the PowerAmp trial. It's good for 2 weeks then the license is like $5. I know for a fact that you can swipe left and right to change songs. I've now done it on stock, Monster ROM, Maverick, Steel Droid, Liberty, and ICS.
