That sucks. Have you tried removing the battery, letting things discharge, removing SIM... then put them back in?

If nothing else, customer service (call 611) should be able to help you out. I am sure it's happened to other people before.

Well, after certain amount of attempts it asks for your gmail name/password. If that didn't work to, then exchanging the phone is the only option I see since it's not rooted.

I have the same problem with Samsung Galaxy.

I can't believe that a glaring bug like this one could slip through.

Experienced the same issue yesterday. Master reset does not fix this, so they are sending me a new handset.

How many times do you have to mess up the unlock code for it to brick? and why would the gmail not work? I am worried now that if someone gets a hold of my phone, does that and I try to sign into my gmail it will not work, since yours didnt?? whats the deal with that?

    1) I think 20 times. I lost count.
    2) It seems like the phone doesn't ever send the data anywhere

My gmail account is still accessible on a computer.

My son and I got ours last week and he did the same thing.....diddled to much and his diddler locked!!!!

We called 611 and asked for smart phone assistance. He had to do a factory reset and it wiped all of his apps and contacts! But since he only had it 24 hours it was not that big of an issue. Now he remembers his diddle!

I guess the morale of the story is when you diddle, remember it and don't make your diddle to hard!

Reflashing the phone should do the trick.

    Go here for Eugene's ROM's:

    (Rom) Vibrant9 Eclair 2.1 flashable .zip * 9/2/2010* Final * - xda-developers

ROM files go on the internal SD card, not the external SD card. The path is /sdcard, not /sdcard/sd. ClockworkMod will not be able to access the file if it's on the external card.
