    i'm running xtrROM 3.0.3.

all of a sudden this afternoon, my phone shut itself off,
then turned itself on. it would connect to 3G, then repeat
    all over again.

i've tried to remove the battery and waited about 10 min,
then put it back in, and it still does the same thing.

i didn't update anything today, didn't install anything new
at all. i was using it just fine this morning.

    any ideas?

i figure my last resort would be to restore from a previous
nandbackup. but that was a month ago, i'm hoping i don't
    have to do that.

Are you running SetCPU? If so, try setting your maximum speed to something slower.

i am running set cpu, but i can't get in there to change
the settings. it'll restart by the time i try to launch it.

i didn't change or add any profiles since i first got it,
and this just started happening today.

(this is different than a boot-loop right? since it actually
gets to the home screen, and then it restarts?)

Clear your Dalvik cache. If that doesn't work, just flash another ROM and hopefully that fixes it.

i actually just decided to take this opportunity to upgrade
to 4.0.2. i've been meaning to, just been lazy.

everything seems to be working good now. i'm going
thru Titanium Backup restore right now.
