Phone Replaced - but now now Voice Search is missing

Hi

the unthinkable happened - and my hero died - well it stopped being able to connect to the network... pretty useless.. so I phoned orange who sent a replacement... but I cant find the ap for voice search, it seems to be missing... any ideas please ?

I have installed the TTS extended thing... but no voice search

It doesn't come as standard.

Download it from the Market.

TTS is nothing to do with Voice Search.

thats the problem - its not in the market - else I would have downloaded it

google voice is there.. but thats the phone one... i search google, voice search everything else... but its not there....

any ideas ?

I think this is because it is now part of the latest version of Android (1.6 upwards) so they have removed it from the market. You may be able to get the .apk file from someone here, otherwise wait for the next ROM update which will probably be only a matter of a few weeks or less (fingers crossed!)

Can some one tell me how to load it to my phone? Use HTC Snyc after you load from internet? Thanks. I am looking for voice search for a long time, this could be the answer...

Hi

copy the file to the root of your SDcard. goto settings > applications and allow unknown sources.

then browse the SD Card - I used Astro - and just click the file - the installer will then fire up
