My Xperia X10 phone says that an update is available and refers me to Sony Ericsson - Sony Ericsson which says Android 2.3 is available and to use PC companion to install it. If I run PC companion and attach the phone it recognises the phone but going into the tool to update the phone it tells me the phone is running the latest software and that an update is not required. Anyone else had this or know what is going on? Any way round it?
I always have a problem with PC Companion, you can use sony ericsson update service and the new update only takes 15 minutes max. I have used it twice after PC Companion failed both times. Follow the instructions and you will have no trouble.
I found a section on Sony Ericsson's website regarding the update service and it had instructions on backing up and preparing the phone and troubleshooting a failed upgrade but nothing about how to start the upgrade. Do I have to install something on the PC to use this service and if so, what?
Yes you need to google sony ericsson update service and load it on your PC and follow the instructions, someting like turn the phone off, coonect the usb and hold the arrow bottom right on the phone etc. Once you load the update service which is seperate to PC Companion you will be OK, if not sure go to sonyerricsson page/ support and use live chat who are very helpful.Bob
There's an update out for PC Companion, you may need to update that first... In fact I've just updated just now through PC Companion.
