Help phone wont change back to phone keypad

for some reason my htc wildfire is on the QWERTY keyboard even though the whole time ive had it its been on phone keypad, even in my settings,language and keyboard settings its in phone keypad but when i go to write a msg its in QWERTY, ive tried turing my phone on and off and nothing has helped, what can i do to get it back to phone keypad???
