How do I get my phone to remain lit to enter my password for my voicemail?
There is a proximity sensor somewhere on the front of your phone. It's to detect when your face is close to the screen and trigger the blank screen for battery conservation. Often this becomes smudged or even an older screen protector will cause it to misbehave. You might try cleaning the front of your phone well with a soft cloth and if it has a screen protector that's become well used.. replace for a fix. Proximity sensors sometime just go bad or become faulty. Holding the phone to a light source will normally bring the screen back to life. I hope this helps.
When you have the dialpad on the screen, move your finger around the screen. It should only go black when your finger is near the top of the screen (to keep you from "cheek dialing"). if it's too sensitive and blanks the screen when you get anywhere near it, it's a warranty repair.
