I've already taken battery out for over 5 minutes and still won't turn on. Is there a hard reset that can be done?

Depends on the phone. Take the battery out, hold the power switch on for 5 minutes. If that doesn't work, take the battery out, hold both the power switch and Home buttons down for 5 minutes.
Are you sure you gave the battery a 24 hour charge, to make sure it's charged?
