I just received my Huawei p40 pro and am coming to grips with it. Question: Is there a way to move photos from Gallery to Google Photos?

I put photos in emails I write on my chromebook but they have to come from Google Photos.

Okay, I found a way. Connect a cable from the phone to the chromebook and moved with "Files". It's not bad but if there are alternative ways I'm eager to hear them.

you should not have to do anything.....in google photos click on your avatar and select backup if it is not backing up already......thats all you have to do.....there is no need for cables or anything.

Don't get confused here, the gallery on Android is just a simple image viewer, nothing more. It's not a folder that contains files or photos...
Use a file explorer to find where your images are stored, on Android they will reside in your download folder, your DCIM folder, mostly...
Install Google photos on all of your devices and it will sync across them all using your Gmail credentials....
And yes, no cable is needed.

I can't install Google Photos on the Huawei P40 pro. China/US conflict. No Google. So, I want to move photos from the p40 pro to my chromebook and Google Photos.

Thank you, Dannydet. I read the article and it works perfectly well but the article didn't really explain the process for a novice with the Huawei p40 pro.

So, here's what I did and it works.
    A. Open your browser, any browser, and go to https://photos.google.com. Enter and go to Google Photos. Then click on the menu hamburger in the upper right-hand corner and click on "Add to Home".

That will put a Google Photos icon on you phone with a little tag showing the browser you used. For mine, it's a duck for DuckDuckGO.

    Okay, I'm done. I got a system.
    1. Cable between p40 pro and chromebook.
    2. I'm asked if I want to transfer photos, transfer files, or charge only. I select "transfer files".
    3. That brings up a files screen on the chromebook.
    4. I go down to my device and select "DCIM" then "Camera".
    5. I select the photos I want and "copy".
    6. I go up to "my files" then "Downloads" then "Camera".
    7. "Paste into folder

Then, when I go to Google Photos, the photos are there. I wish it were simpler but it isn't. I wish my p40 pro had GMS but it doesn't.

It does have a great camera that I enjoy using.

Apparently, the Google/Huawei struggle is ongoing. That system above worked until two days ago. Now, the photos do NOT go to Google Photos. If I load them into Snapseed and then save they go into Google Photos.

I found a way to get my photos from the P40 pro to Google Photos. I hope the struggle isn't ongoing and all the doors get closed.

then why you got it? I had the p20 pro but later I changed to note 20 because of this.

The cable isn't the easiest way you can transfer a lot of photos rapidly on a computer. For example, when we used the photo retouching services for our wedding services, the editor of photos created a Google Drive, so we upload all the photos we want to edit. All he had to do is to download the photos on his computer and upload them back. You can do this also for personal purposes. I keep all my photos on a Google Drive online storage, so every device connected to my account can see what photos I have. It is very comfortable.
