Hello I am looking for a bit of advice.

I took a few photos on my galaxy s7 while on a hike today and a few hours later my phone automatically began updating... after the update was complete I went to look at my photos and noticed the ones I took today were all gone. All my other photos are still there, but the ones I took today have vanished. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Is there a way to recover the lost photos? I have a micro SD card that the camera saves photos to by default if that makes any difference.

Thank you for any help and advice!

WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS ! :thumbsupdroid:

Sometimes, with some devices, not all,the pics newly taken don't show up in the Gallery app until you reboot the phone.
    Give that a shot....................

Thank you but rebooting the device did not help. The photos were there in the gallery before the update... I had already looked through them once, but after they just disappeared.

I wish it were that easy as well. I always start with the absolute easiest solution feasible, gotta rule it out anyway, might as well start from square one.....

With that said, I believe there are apps/desktop programs that may retrieve lost data/pics/etc...

I myself haven't had the occasion to use such, hopefully someone who has will chime in.....

Did you use Google photos? That would have backed them up for you automatically.

If your default location to save files is your SD card, have you tried removing the card and reading it on a PC?

Since your photos are stored micro SD card, you can try professional card data recovery tool or thirs party Android data recovery tools. Both of them work for you.
