Help Photos truncated when uploading to SmugBot & Picasa

There is another thread about this topic, but no answer to the thread.

When I try to upload a photos from my Incredible (running 2.2), it sometimes truncates the lower 10% or so of the photo, and shows just a plain gray area instead at the bottom of the photo.

I thought this was a gliche with SmugBot, so I tried it with Picasa and got the same result.

Any ideas?

I get this too when uploading from the stock gallery app to picasa on my HTC Desire Z with froyo. Consistently uploads the top 60-70% of the photo and the lower bit is grey.

Extremely annoying - anyone know why?
