I just saw a thread on xda forum about users reporting these kind of problems on both the Desire and Legend and I remember I've seen similar reports for the Nexus One. HTC Desire with pinkish AMOLED display anyone? - xda-developers

Anyone here with similar problem? I hope these are just isolated cases of defective units.
Just take a look at the pictures from this post

It's a bit strange yes, but does it actually affect the funcationality of the phone? It sounds like a driver issue.

I just got my at&t nexus one the other day and greys definitely have a pink hue. You can really notice it in the gmail app. Looks like a 'miscalibrated' or defective screen :(

Edit: just called HTC nexus one support. They said they are aware of the issue and it will be fixed in the next update.

Yup, the light greys (ie in the message area of this forum) have a pink hue.

I have a pic of a Hero, Samsung Spica nd the desire all showing the same page and the issue stands out a mile.

BUT only noticeable if what ever you look at has light grey shades. Otherwise everything else seems OK.

Likely a driver issue, as had similar on a Nokia which was fxed by a FW update.

Lekky, have you compared against another phone side by side displaying the same page?

I didnt notice mine until I did!

Does anyone else see pink instead of gray on the gmail app, and more distinctly, the htc website gradients and the facebook boxes with a slight pink tinge(which are meant to be really light blue)?

I haven't noticed the pink hue at all. It's very very slight on my phone and only noticed it when comparing with another phone.

In my opinion it's a non issue.

Its non existant when at full brightness, but when you lower the brightness, light grey looks like a slight pink colour.

Seems less noticeable the brighter the screen, and very noticeable when dim screen.

My guess is a contrast setting issue in the FW.

    ^^ this!

It's only noticeable on lowest brightness, doesn't bother me that much, even if it was never 'fixed'. Turn the brightness up and compare it to an iPhone screen, amoled wins hands down!

Gmail is supposed to be a bit pinkish grey when you look at this pic.

But its not only there, anywhere light grey (look at HTC.com) on 40% brightness.

Saying that, what brightness does everyone use?

I don't have a Desire so I can't take a look at the HTC website. But I'm pretty sure the HTC website looks fine on my Legend. I know that's completely irrelevant :p .

People are getting their desires replaced because of this issue. I'm just wondering, should I do the same..

I repair in Service LCD monitors and sometimes come to a service monitor with the same problem.
In my case it is only firmware problem and helps display 16 grayscales pattern and run Color Adjustment or Reset from monitor menu.
But this is not possible make with Desire...

Mine only turns pink on the very lowest setting. Usually leave it on auto and its fine

I have read that HTC confirmed this problem with Desire and they are trying to resolve it.

    Reply from HTC:

    Anyone else noticed the problem?
