plan ran out but still getting free text messaging

not sure why but my plan was up on virgin mobile on the 1st but i am still able to send text messages just not picture messages. is this something has happened to anyone else or will my texting be cut off soon?
 
If I recall if your plan runs out. You got like 14 days to pay or risk losing your phone number.

I'm not sure if that would allow the text to still work or not.
 
thanks. yea i guess i should top up to be safe and not lose my number but i am almost willing to c how far i can go till i i can no longer text. i will report back if and when anything changes
