The X has has a little wider aspect ratio (closer to movie aspect ratio), so if you encode at original aspect ratio, you'll get less letterboxing than an 800x480 screen.

Personally, I'd prefer watching with letterboxing, preserving the movie in the aspect ratio it was intended to be watched in.

But, if you don't want that, you should be able to set your encoder to 854x480 and there should be a box for preserve aspect ratio or something like that. Just make sure that's not checked off and you should get it encoded to full screen.

There may be a solution on the app side as well, but I'm not sure.

    The X has a true 16:9 ratio. 854/480 = 1.77777, 16/9 = 1.77777. if the source is 2.35 it will letterbox.
