Just noticed that there sounds as if something is loose inside my phone:(

If I tap the back of the phone by the camera speaker area while holding it horizontal it sounds like there is something rattling inside. It also rattles when I place the phone down.

Any chance a few of you could also check and let me know in case it is a problem and I should return it(dunno how long I have to return a fault) or if its just normal and maybe a sensor or something.

    Thanks.

Just given it a gentle tap around the back. It does make a different sound up at the camera/speaker end of the phone. Doesnt rattle or anything if i put the phone down though.

This has been reported before, mine does and so do several others, I don't believe it's a massive issue.

It doesn't rattle when I place the phone down though.

    Cheers for the replies.:)

Didnt realise it had already been discussed, did a google search and nothing came up.

Does anyones not rattle at all? with nearly 70 views I assume that all Desires do it.

I was half hoping it was the speaker rattling and that a replacement handset would sort it out!

    Thanks again

Just shook my phone next to my ear and I can confirm that I have a rattle too.

Hmmm I was wondering what it could be and thought it might be a camera lens cover or something. So I have just tried messing about with the camera and I'm fairly sure that when I used to switch the cam on/off it would make a little noise like a cover flipping open or closing. Doesnt seem to do that now, maybe its that that is broken and rattling!

Still seems to work ok though!

Mine doesn't rattle, but it does sound different if you do repeated taps near the camera as opposed to near the bottom of the back.

Hello guys... Just want to say it's not just HTC Desire rattling but Nexus One as well :) So it's kind of design "mode" :)

Apparently it is the auto focus mechanism in the camera. My HD rattles as well as my Desire.

Having tapped my phone (like when people tell you its possible to lick the outside of your elbow - you just have to try it) I was going to say it sounds like its coming from the camera lens :)

my first desire didnt do it. I sent that back due to speaker problem, now the 2nd handset speaker is reasonable but do have the rattle mentioned above

Mine doesn't rattle but does make a sound when you put the phone down/tap the back near the camera. Pretty sure it's the auto focus mechanism on the camera and is nothing to worry about. I had it much worse on my last phone and it didn't bother me.

I had thought my very slight rattle was the vibrate mechanism.
