Maybe the battery or charger are having problems. You are charging from a wall socket not a PC right?

Hi Jenna Can you tell me when it is taking so long to charge is it plugged into the computer usb port? Or it's original charger?

The Note 2 has a very large battery (which will take longer to charge anyway) but its charger has a way to put more juice into the battery faster, most other chargers are not set up that way and usb charging (from the computer) is always slower on all phones.:(

Also lets move this to the Note 2 section as if my suggestion isn't the answer then perhaps more people with your phone will have a better suggestion ok.:)

    Hello

Thank you for replying. I am plugging it in with the original charger I received when buying the phoje from the wall. When I first got it, it took probably 2 to 3 hours to go from 0 to 100 percent. It's a recent development taking so long. Could the charger be faulty?

Again, thanks for moving this query to the correct spot.

    Thanks
    Jenna

Try this app. Galaxy Charging Current. LINK You should get 1698 in the *Now* reading when you plug your charger in. If your getting less try unplugging and plugging micro usb back in until you get *Now:1698*. If it reads Now:466/666/966 it is either the charger or the cord. If it's bad call Samsung and they will set up an RMA to test/replace the problem. :D

I've read that the micro USB cables cause lots of problems. Try with a brandnew one.

Yep. This is the culprit. Just find another USB connection and try it out., I have had no luck with the ones that came with the Note 2. They are very flimsy for me when plugged into the laptop. Become disconnected way too often like there is a short in there. I found an old USB from my HTC Evo I used to use. Connected that to the AC plug and it worked like a charm.

Replace that and I'm pretty sure this fixes your problem. It frustrated me, too.

    Two options:
    1. Turn off the phone while you charging to see how long does it takes to fully charged; this to make sure that it does not has anything/setting that bothers the charging time. IF the time needed is back to normal, meaning your phone setting should be changed/reset.
    2. If NOT, start with the easiest/cheapest one, the micro usb cable, charger, battery.........then the usb connector on the phone (this is the worst scenario). Good luck.

    Hi there
I have the same problem that is my note 2 is charging too slowly.

Thank you for the very informative guide. I tried the app and got the 1698 result. Does this mean that my charger and charging Port are fine? and if so what's the next step in your opinion? What else could cause the problem?

1698 Milliamps is OK. If you still have problems, your battery may be faulty.

    Hi.
I had the same problem. I tried many things, nothing helped.
I changed to Note 3 charger and it solved the problem. Now fully charged in 3 hours.
Note 3 charger has output 5.3 volt and 2.0A,
Try to avoid using the phone while charging especially when you have 80%.

That is really long, there might be something wrong with the battery? Because mine takes a while but at most 2hrs to charge. Sometimes you need to check up on it, because there were times with my phone that the battery was going down instead of charging it. Also, you could try to replace it if you have the warranty.

No need to be panic...the problem is very clear and is very known....simply change the USB cable but be sure you get orginal one or any one with the same wire gauge...this 100% will solve the problem since i had something similar before

Please help me understand this. Why would someone not use their phone while charging; especially at 80%?

    It is just the cable.

Or atleast thats what you should check first. As cables cost 1 dollar.

Check amazon for kendel fire cables.

You may want to try this app call "Galaxy Charging Current" on google playstore. It tells you the current your Note 2 is charging at. I found that when I use a cheap USB cable and charge via PC, it charges at a much slower rate (120 instead of 460) and at 900 instead of 1800 when plugged into the wall charger when compared to using the original Samsung cable .

So I went to the shop and tested a few mid-range cables and the charging current increased slightly. Only the really expensive cable gives current similar to the original cable.

So you may want to take this in mind when purchasing a USB cable :)

Yep I have no issues at all using the cable I am using. I have no idea why the cables Samsung provides for the Note 2 are so flimsy and thin. My usb cable from my Evo works perfect for this phone and I never have anymore charging issues.

Also, the stock cable always disconnected when plugged into the laptop when I was transferring files. It's a piece of junk.

Thank you Wiley, This app worked great and turns out my usb cable was shot. I got a new one and now my phone charges in 2 hours rather than 10 and the app displays the proper charging numbers. :D

    Hi Folks,

I have tried a soft reset before (taking the battery off for at least 6 seconds) and the charging was cut from 6-8 down to 4 max (phone switched off in both cases).

HOWEVER... recently, my phone has been charging over 4 hours even when it is off, then just last night, it took over 8 hours. I checked the original cable and I saw a slight tear in the plastic white skin and you can see the wires inside. I switched the original cable with an unknown cable that is HALF shorter in length and BOOM. over 75% in 2 hours. UH-MAZING. I thought I'd share this one here for those who might find themselves in similar situations.

    Hi
I have got the same problem but after searching lot on net then finally i found the solution my problem got the same problem it was taking too much time to charge full battery before it was taking 3 hours to charge full battery.

So I changed the usb cable and all the things aligned perfectly and now my mobile came to the normal charging tym.

    Thanks

To follow up on this, with the new cable, I have had several instances that when I charge it with less than 5% - after taking the battery off and then charging, it fast charges right away to over 50%, the other night, 75%. After being fully charged, it discharged normally. Was the fast charging technology inside the phone already? Was it the cable? Or this is just a glitch. Nevertheless, it is a remarkable glitch that has saved me time waiting for my phone to fully charge.

Anyone had a similar experience with this? Honestly, I found this cable while on vacation in SE Asia at my cousin's house. I thought it was mine. :)
