I bought my LG optimus about 8 months ago and have used it unactivated with wifi to read email, browse, etc. Last night I dropped it, and it is now reading January 6 at 3am. I removed battery, turned off, back on, etc, to no avail. Can anyone help? Since it won't read the correct time and date, it won't grab my email or facebook. VirginMobile tells me they cant help unless I activate it. I don't want it activated really, I don't use it for voice so I don't want to pay for 3g service. Thanks!

You can set the time manually. Ht the menu button then select Settings > Date & time. Unclick Automatic and you can set the date, time zone, and time. As well as 12 or 24 hour format and how the date is displayed.

Go to the market and install " clocksync". It will allow to reset your phones clock even if you aren't rooted. I've had to use it before when i had no service with Vm.

You are right, I just checked my wife's phone (rooted 2.2.1) and it does not have that option. I checked it on my triumph running 2.2.2 and assumed it wold be the same.
Thanks for the correction (it might be on 2.2.2 OV's though). I assumed that since the rest of the 2.2 stuff was the same in the menus that would be too. That's what I get for jumping to conclusions.

If the app mentioned above doesn't help, you could try a factory reset (if you are not rooted!)

I am told by VM that those 2 options are all that is avail for a phone that is not activated. Once you activate, it gives more options.
I ended up plugging the USB into the computer and the Optimus, and it magically fixed it! THANKS though!

I have the same problem with my unactivated VM phone. I installed clocksync app and there is supposed to be a manual method for updating but the screen has words overlaying words and I can't get the app to change my time. Anybody no the manual steps?

this has happened to me a couple times. Take battery out. Plug the chrging cord into the droid, then plug USB end into computer. Put battery back in. Letting it boot up with the computer fixes it.

Thank you - Thank you - Thank you

I have a rooted & unactivated OV that shows only 2 options; Use 24-h Format & Select Date Format as well, and plugging into PC without the battery WORKED!!

    Happy DST!

As usual, VM is wrong. I have had an unrooted, activated OPV for 2 years and those two options are all that is available on my phone also.

My unactivated phone sync'd up (with Daylight Saving Time) after I connected to the internet via my MiFi yesterday morning.
