    Guys,

I was finally able to successfully root my evo today after several failed attempts!!! A couple of questions that I have for you. Their was a pop up window that displayed on my phone about a software update. If I select yes to that and update the phone what will happen? Like will it go back to stock? Like will I have to re-root it will the wifi-tether app still work? I just want to update it but am scared I will lose all of my hard work.

If you are rooted and want to stay that way, never accept over the air updates. They could close the process out that allows you to get rooted in the first place, which might make it where you could never root the phone again.

as someone that just got the EVO, Do I have to root the phone to make it work right?? Im not a computer wizard and am getting nervous that the phone will be more work than its worth. I have been following the threads since May and finally got my EVO yesterday. I was really excited but now am finding it a bit challenging. I guess Im too old to learn new tricks. At least I have 30 days to learn :)

The advantages i see is that it allows you to get rid of the bloatware, makes the phone snappier, and free wireless tethering, allowing you to basically mod it the way you want, so if you like to tweak stuff you will like this. and they have some very easy root methods, check the 3 click root method thread
