There is nothing in the FAQ about Kies.

I am having the same problem, still running 2.1 eclair :(

I have done every tip and trick I have found on the internet and have uninstalled/reinstalled kies so many times I lost track.

Kies just does NOT recognize my phone.

Don't feel bad about not being able to use Klies to upgrade the phone! I was in the same boat as both of you, lost many hours between the Klies install/uninstall Klies, AT&T tech dept, and even Samsung. The only way I was able to upgrade to to 2.2 Fryo was to send the phone in to Samsung and have the update performed by them.

If you have another phone to use in the meantime, just watch when the phone is re registered back to you. AT&T screwed up with my text plan and I could not even do any call fowarding because the blackberry I used when my phone was in Samsung was not fully removed. It took a person named "Sam",from over there to find and fix the problem.

Please note the phone appears to be sensitive to which USB port it's connected to (just like some cameras can be). On my Dell, the phone prefers to be connected to the ports on the front of the PC. Go figure.
