Poor instructions come with Galaxy Tab 2 7"

Just want to say hi, and hope your forum will help me get a email setup working, I have TimeWarner or Roadrunner and can not get the email part of it, set up. This tablet is a Christmas gift for my girlfriend and I would like it good to go when she opens it that day. I would also like to get Skype put into it! Is GMail the same as the email that I am used too? On my computer, I have Windows Live Mail, can it be put into the Galaxy Tablet? That way I can coach her along, as I am familur with that program.. She is not computer savy so I need to be able to help.. Thanks everybody, the normalguy
