Is my speaker blown or does anyone else have a problem with the qound quality when playing anything through the external speaker on KaosFroyo?

Everytime I play any music or even a rng tone through the speaker it always sounds tinny and distorted.

Everything sounded great before when I had the stock 2.1 Firmware.

Same quality on Nonsensikal. What are the odds I blew my speaker?

I think mine is blown as well, just happened about a week ago too.

If you're getting the same result from two different ROMs, then I think it's safe to assume that there is a hardware problem. I have seen other reports of the speaker going bad.

This is a somewhat frequent, but not too common issue on the Eris, if you search the non-root forums you'll see others have blown there speaker.

    So... is the speaker replaceable?

Not sure if it is user replaceable. I just got Verizon to send a replacement. IT was still under warranty.

You may be able to find a replacement speaker, but it wont be an easy fix for the average person. Just send it in for replacement, flash back to stock ROM.

I did. I flashed the stock and sent it back. New Eris sounds great again. First two things I did with the my Eris was root it and install Nonsensical.

    All is good again.
