Thanks, but it is technically possible to port it to the current Desire once there is a leaked ROM, right ?

You know it won't give you a slide-out keyboard right ?

Its possible, best place to keep an eye on that sort of thing would be on the XDA dev forum

    Thanks,

I'm mostly interested in the cached maps and new HTC Sense UI. brut maps is good, but downloading and installing maps is a real pain.

There's already a half assed HD ROM out for the regular Desire:

    [09-22] newSense DesireHD ROM(1.15) file for Desire phone, rooted|A2SD+|OJWake|OVPN - xda-developers

The camera doesn't seem to work though (8MP on HD vs 5MP on regular).

I would think a ROM ported from Desire Z would be more suitable because they both have the same screen size and Camera resolution. The keyboard support can also be stripped out of the ROM.

Moreover, the Z supports HTC Sense in landscape mode, which is pretty cool. I don't think HD supports this feature.

    Awesome :D

What are the advantages of the new ones over the current Desire ones?

Is that due to the software? If so, awesome :D

Not worth moving away from the undervolted kernels just yet though :)

    Hmm...
I doubt that HTC will leave us on this update. They will probably give it to us in due time. So, I think that I am going to wait for them to release an RUU.

That's a common issue on all "HD" roms right now, XDA has a thread on getting a solution for the camera, not much progress so far.
