It seems I may have spoken too soon about my phone working perfectly. Yesterday I was out hiking in an area where I still had 1-2 reception bars. I was sending some texts, taking some pictures, and everything was fine. Then as I was typing out a text, the force close message came up. I chose to force close it instead of wait. It closed, I reopened the text thread and started typing again, and the phone just shut off and started the rebooting process. After this happened, I remebered once the day before when I went to use the browser and it opened on the Google search homepage. At the time I thought that was strange because I had been previously viewing these forums, so normally that's what would have shown up right when I opened it. So I'm thinking it had rebooted that day too. This morning when I woke up, the same thing happened. I had plugged my phone in before going to bed last night while it still had power, so there was no shutting off involved, and this morning when I opened the browser it was on the Google homepage. Can anyone give me any insight to that particular problem? If it was something that happened rarely, I wouldn't really care... but if it's going to be a daily thing, I'm not sure how happy I am with that.

Also, I seem to be having a problem with calls coming through. Saturday night I was over at my boyfriend's house and didn't leave until it was really late. Apparently he called shortly after I left to make sure I made it home safely, but the call never came through. He brought it up the next morning when we were talking. I had no missed call alerts, and the call wasn't even recorded in my call history. He said it rang several times and then went to voicemail. Same thing just happened. He sent me a text saying he had called to say hi before going to work, but no call had come through, there was no missed call alert, and it's not in my call history. (Keep in mind, it was also this morning that the phone seems to have rebooted, but I can't say what time for sure.) That's really bugging me and I can't figure out why it would be happening. All texts seem to be coming through just fine. This has only happened with his calls; no one elses. Then again, he's the one who calls the most and I've only had the phone for 3 full days.

Does it sound like I should do a factory reset? I haven't installed any new apps other than Netflix Queue Manager, which I wouldn't see causing any problems. I know the phone never rebooted during the first day I used it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

i would try a battery pull. Pull the battery with the phone powered on. Leave it out for about 30 seconds then replace it. See if this helps.

    Hi Mojo,

As for the calls not coming in - I experienced that once in a while on my old phone and it was a purely network issue (the carrier). I have not encountered such a problem on my Dinc2 so far.

As for you suspecting that the phone randomly shuts down - try to run a couple apps before you go sleep - when you wake up, check if, apart from having the google homescreen, the apps you ran are still on?

That's all I could think of, so far. Nevertheless, I hope that helps.

Thanks for that suggestion! I don't know why I didn't think to do a battery pull... I've been doing those since I bought my first BlackBerry four years ago! I did a pull and so far, no reboots and everything is working great!!

I'm beginning to think that may be all my missed calls were due to. I sure hope so! I guess at this point all I can do is just wait to see if it happens again. My boyfriend lives in an area that sometimes doesn't get real great reception, so it wouldn't be a huge shock if that was the reason behind it... But it's strange because in all the time I've known him, it's never happened before (that I'm aware of, anyway) and it just seemed coincidental that it only happened once I got this phone. But maybe it is just coincidence.

Leaving a couple apps running at night is a good suggestion! I also had another idea. Ever since I got this phone, I've been monitoring battery life pretty closely by going to Settings > About Phone > Battery > Battery Level > Battery Use. There it tells me how long the phone has been unplugged from the charger, or how long it's been on since being rebooted or turned off. So looking at that can tell me if it's rebooted at some point during the day after being unplugged. Unfortunately it doesn't time a charge so it doesn't help at night when I keep the phone plugged in, but I had totally forgotten about the Up Time timer it also provides. Oddly enough, when I woke up this morning it was the same deal - I opened the browser and it went right to the Google homepage. So I checked Up Time, and it says it's been on for 25 hours, which is exactly what it should be. I did the battery pull yesterday around noon which reset the timer, so that means the phone has continually been on since the battery pull. Yay! I don't understand why the browser is resetting, but as long as it's not because it's rebooting, I don't care too much. I'm going to try your suggestion tonight and leave some apps running as well, just out of curiosity.

Thank you both for your help!! I will update in a few days.

I'm glad I could help. All smartphones benefit from a battery pull every now and then. Just helps to clean things up in the memory.
