I have two phones - a Sharp Aquos Crystal with a cracked screen and digitizer, and a LG Optimus L9 with a fried GPU/CPU im guessing but the screen intact. The phones have different resolutions, but would it be possible to take the screen from the L9 and plug it into the Crystal somehow so I can get the display working, or are the phones hard wired not to accept a different display?

Assuming that the two screens have the same electrical requirements (compatible power and signal connectors) the Sharp's firmware is still going to be built for the display panel that it came with. It's not going to detect the different panel and adjust settings, download drivers etc; why would the manufacturer waste resources like that, when they know what panel they are fitting? Plus there's the digitiser too, which is probably bonded to the display and is almost certainly also different between the two devices. So to be honest I don't rate the chances of this working very highly.
