Lg optimus v cyanogen mod 7.1 i.h.o. Version i believe. Problem is my phone turns on goes to lg picture then to i.h.o. Picture then stops right there. I've tried going into recovery using the home volume and power button and the return volume and power button and they both just load the lg logo and go to a black screen. What happened that may have caused this? I tried loading a backup because my phone was having major freezing problems. I did the rom manager method and i'm sure that was my mistake. After ALOT of searching i saw that the rom manager does that. Put in mind i am fairly new at this. So please don't scold or what not. I'd just like to find a way to fix it. As i'd rather not buy a new one. Unless its unavoidable.

Hey there...Are you still having trouble? I don't know anything about IHO roms, but I'm the member MacFett referenced who just suffered woe with the "new screen" flash failure.

If you read my last post in the Summary thread MacFett linked above, you'll find some instructions on how to check whether you have the new screen. (post #66 on page two: http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...mary-tale-my-first-rom-recovery-switch-2.html)

It took me a while to get back into my phone after my first black screen failure...it finally worked when I pulled the battery, held down power button for 30 seconds and re-installed battery and then powered into recovery. From there, can you restore a backup? If not, you'll likely need to flash a new recovery from your current recovery. You can flash a zip if you can download it to your sd card.

AndyOpie helped me a TON yesterday with this process, which is documented in the my other thread, http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...p-middle-flashing-first-rom-black-screen.html. Look specifically at his post #3 in that thread, it has some very helpful links...read the Fix Black Screen one ([FIX]Black screen with custom recovery and custom roms - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com).

I recommend the Bob Zhome recovery, which you can find here:
    https://github.com/inferiorhumanorgans/android_device_lge_thunderc/wiki/Binary
    Look at this graph:
New Info: BobZhome built a version of IHO recovery with a kernel compatible with the newer OV screens.
Now uploaded to the wiki. IHO-Recovery-Works-With-New-Screens
(Bob’s recovery has been tested by Bigsupersquid on a new OV and worked for him without any noticeable issues.)

I'm no expert, but I can empathize with your situation and would love to help if I can...others here are much better equipped to help, though, so I'm sure you'll get this worked out!

Try using this method to get into your recovery: Hold the home button+volume down button at the same time. Then while holding those buttons down press the power button down until you see the lg logo. Then it should boot into your recovery. If your recovery was working well enough to flash a ROM, it's still working. You just have to know what the combination of buttons are to get into it. Once in your recoverygo to the backup and restore option and select restore. Then select yes. After install of backup select "reboot system now"

OK, have you tried pulling your battery and leaving it out for 5 minutes? I know this is frustrating, I'm sorry...

I would pull the battery, hold power button down for 30 seconds or more, and then just leave the battery out for 5 minutes...may not help, but couldn't hurt. Then, put battery back in, boot as if into recovery (power+volume down+home)...the instant you see LG pop up on the screen, release all the keys.

When I was having issues not booting the other day, I was holding the keys down slightly longer than the LG popping on screen...then, after clearing battery, I tried holding the keys down only just long enough to see LG, then immediately releasing, and it worked...Maybe it's nothing, maybe it helps? Let us know....

If sushifor5's advice doesn't work I guess were going to need to know what recovery you flashed (was it the one in ROM Manager?). What OS version is your phone and were did you get your ROM(provide link to devs site if possible). This will help us diagnose what you need to do to straighten out your phone.

I did alot of web browsing and it was all done with my phone. Sorry i couldn't get all the info. but i greatly appreciate all your help from you two. And i'm barely gonna try the 5 min battery method, ill let you know if it works.

Ok so i just figured something out. Seems that whenever i attempt to boot into recovery and i hit the black screen i can press the camera capture button and it reboots the phone. maybe that'll help with something?

It does that because it starts on that option by default. When you hit the camera button your selecting that option to run.
You definitely have a Hitachi screen. The recovery you installed is incompatible with said screen.

Ok, do you have a PC with ADB established in your system path? Do you have the LG drivers for the "V" installed?

Ok. Go here and follow all directions New pre-packaged ADB installation this is without a doubt the easiest way to go.
Post your success when finished so we can move to the next step.

I'm just trying to fill a big pair of shoes left by JerryScript when he couldn't because of his time spent on perfecting his awesome ROM.
He still comes out to help every now and again. It's in his blood.
I called him the "Shell Answer Man". He always has the right answer for any problem.

Not really, most all advice I give has already been posted somewhere. It's just a matter of finding the info.
I started using Note Everything because I can leave myself links to the site that aren't used as often and sometimes get buried in archives. They will open right to the thread so I can double check my memory on the topic( my mfemory is like a sieve now).

Are you supposed to extract the zip? Sorry if I'm off base, I just remember andy telling me not to extract, just to flash the zip...i might be late to the party here and be confused about what you are doing, I just wanted to make sure you are on the right track to avoid more problems. :)

    Edit

Oh, my bad...you're doing adb stuff, right? That's out of my league...hope it works for you!
