Some Launcher apps will let you adjust the grid size and hide the app labels. I'm using Launcher Pro Plus and it allows you to adjust those settings. I'm not entirely sure if it's available in the free version.. download it and give it a whirl!

Alot of us put the icons on the wallpaper itself then just use transparent icons for the shortcuts. Thats the easiest way to make sure the icons are exactly where you want them.

I know it's nothing special, but I haven't posted my first 3D screenshot yet. I had to post something. :D

Sorry for the noob question.. Witch app/widget do you use in order to have 'folders' or what ever it could be.. Every folder app/widget i tried.. i couldn't type in words.. (Like your Games/Utilities).

    I use MNML text btw.

    Thanks.

Usual suspects: MT, WL, Adv Clock Widget and Playerpro (My player IS modded however the background player I built onto the wallpaper. I just made it transparent so I can easily switch out the background.)

I'm in love with the simplicity - do you have a guide to do this? Apart from the links on your page? I'm a design noob lol

in case SFtangra doesnt get back to you...

a common trick is to put everything on the actual wallpaper using photoshop or similar. then use desktop visualizer with a transparent icon to launch the app you want. just like up the desktop visualizer item with what you put on the wallpaper. add clock in correct place, etc

I feel so thick - that this stuff comes so easily to you guys... I used to be happy just applying a theme here and there through recovery or an apk... but this is awesome... I need to do some serious studying, there's so many great desktops, I just don't know where to begin.

You can check my blog for some tutorial from time to time.
And @rcubed is right - this is the way for my BlackInspiration setup.

I'm learning many elements of graphic design just because I got so excited about the personalization aspects of android (former iphone user). Check out the GIMP program if you want to wait to invest in software - it's free and there's a large community devoted to TUT's for it on youtube, etc. I use Corel PaintShop Pro X3, which is about $50 and contains about 75% of the features that Photoshop full has -that's about a $300 program depending on what version/discounts, with past versions of Photoshop hard to come by.
Deviant Art has a large community of artists who put together nice setups using the most popular icon sets and trendiest widgets, not to mention a huge amount of high quality digital art and photos in large enough sizes to make hi def papers. Check out the XDA thread for lots of screen setups - that thread can have 100 posts a day or more. Here's the thread on XDA for icon sets - they're up to 600+, many of which you can find on deviant art.
    Have fun!
