I heard that overclocking the CPU to too high of a frequency could cause it to burn out faster. Is that true?
I know when overclocking a regular computer's CPU that the potential for that scenario is there if it gets too hot. I do not want to permanently damage my Sprint HTC Hero.
I've seen benchmarks actually go down once in awhile when running at 768mhz (max) as opposed to a little lower, my advice, start at 691 and slowly advance it if it handles it well. I personally feel like 691mhz or 710mhz is optimal and don't really go any higher.
4.835 MFLOPS in 17.34 seconds. I'm guessing something isn't right since most of y'all are under 7 seconds. I'm running CM6 with LP+, JIT enabled, OC'd at 710 (most times) running Collin's battery tweak (I think I have it configured right) & uncapped kernal 13, unchecked compcache. So what's wrong?
I updated the LauncherPro version to 7.9, fixed all permissions via ROM manager, rebooted and retested and my MFLOPS hit 5.049. I did not install overclock widget or SetCPU. Did a reboot increase it that much?
