I just copy and pasted this from the google checkout help section,

You can make purchases through Google Checkout using a credit, debit, or gift card with the following logos:

  • American Express*
  • Discover*
  • MasterCard
  • Solo**
  • Visa
  • Visa Electron

So i think you would be ok with a Visa prepaid card.

Be sure to read fine print on card!
I got a gift card they bought at wal-mart or k-mart has "visa logo", good at stores but not for online trasactions
Found out when I tried to add it to google check-out and sure enough very fine print said card was not for online use

i bought a a 25$ visa prepaid gift cash card and i have been unable to get it to work in the android market it keeps saying failure and wont authorize purchase and i countinusley have to cancel my order there is no fix to this problem and many people have the same problem also it would help if google got a hotline to call instead of online help centers

I don't think its Google's fault, rather its the Visa card issuer who does not want/allow the card to be used online.

I recently bought a Vanilla Prepaid Mastercard, and when I tried to do a purchase, I received notification that the card was an 'unsupported payment method', both on the website and the app.

Anyone have any tips?

I checked the Mastercard website and it says they're usable online.

Where can I use my prepaid card?
The Vanilla Card is a prepaid card that can be used anywhere that accepts MasterCard

Have you registered the card online? Some of those pre paid credit cards you have to go to a website and register the card before you can use it for online purchases. Site should be on the card or the packaging.

Well, I went online and I was able to check my balance. I also called them up and only got the automated run around, also confirming my account by putting in my number.

Well crap. Apparently, according to the actual live customer service I got a hold of by going through the 'lost or stolen card' option, told me they needed to register my postal code for online purchases.

Even though it says nothing about that anywhere on the package OR website.

Thanks a lot =D

The other issue with pre-paid cards on the Market is that they may not work for apps where the seller is outside of the U.S. Is there a chance that your selected app falls under that umbrella?
