Thanks... Article was difficult to read... as popups kept blocking the text and tried to sell me a subscription... and another and another.. If you are a subscriber, I'm assuming you don't get that...

Anyway... from what I could see, it seems Mr Graham and Mr Trump didn't appear that dissimilar on foreign policy (apologies for not being able to give examples... I can't see the article again until I purchase a subscription).

Lol, no subscriber, just used a different browser.

Folks around here, actually in South Carolina, have given up on Graham.
After his failed campaign, during the primaries, he seems only trying to remain in the spotlight.

Yes, I guess you must qualify Obama's as underhanded and sneaky to distract from the fact that what I said was true. He used executive orders less than any full term president in over 100 years. I used a similar chart for reference in my previous post.

And I only counted 20 on that list that averaged fewer per year, which, since several of those presidents either did not serve a 4 year term, or were neither a 2 term President, is what I am going by. That puts Obama somewhere in the middle of the pack.

And Trump has already signed 17 executive orders in 10 days. He is currently on pace for 2,484 executive orders.

So far the people who voted for Trump are getting exactly what he promised, the people who voted against him are saying "I told you so". and the people who didn't vote are out in the streets protesting. Young folks and old better wake up and start taking voting seriously again. Only an estimated %58 of Americans voted this year in the US.

Disclaimer: Not sure if real or fake. If real is extremely disturbing. With everything he has said and already "accomplished", could be entirely true.

If President Trump does a years worth of Executive Orders in one week does that mean we can have another election in a month? He compares himself to Lincoln but Lincoln only averaged 12 per year. I'm pretty sure President Trump is far from finished with these EOs.

Well... Now that he's signed the paperwork he's not needed for a couple of weeks, so they've sent him off on vacation and the business of running the country will carry on without him.....

    No $h!t?

Just looked it up. He's going to his place in Florida but don't call it a vacation. President Trump hates vacations, doesn't see the point. He's said that many, many times.

I don't get this idea of an executive order, and how it fits in with a democratically elected government. Seems like the President can ultimately force through just about anything he wants. Roosevelt apparently issued over 3500 exec orders!
The orders are subject to legal scrutiny, but still.. isn't the point of congress to debate issues of law? Looks like exec orders steamroller over that process.

Most of FDR's EOs created jobs and conservation areas and where benificial to the citizens of the United States.. I'll admit that Japenese Internment thing was foul though. Here's how EOs and Presidential Directives should be used. Check out this article about EOs and Presidential Directives from Heritage.org. It's a medium long read but it will positively help your understanding of these issues.

That's a great article, thanks for posting. It's by far the most informative and interesting thing I've read here, and makes a change from the polarised and acrimonious stuff that's been going on.
Anyway, it's a bit of a heavy read, but I now understand the distinction between executive and legislative powers, and what is possible through executive powers (and their abuse!)

LV, it is indeed a good article, but just be aware that heritage.org is THE conservative think-tank/organisation (read their "about" for their mission). That doesn't mean the information isn't worth reading, but the source is very far from neutral, with all that implies (although it is intelligent and well written).

Yeah thanks for the heads up. I kind of got that impression as I was reading it, but thanks for the confirmation and link.

OT: That's the joy of being a Centerist. I could care less if a good explanation comes from the Left or the Right.

I'm still a bit concerned. a bit concerned, about President Trump allowing Steve Bannon to replace the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the the Director of National Intelligence on the National Security Council. .

Who knew Mr. Bannon had so much experience?

He was in the Navy. That's his experience. And Breitbart, let's not forget about that

And we should all be more than a bit concerned. I think that's painfully obvious.

OT: A Veteran and a publisher... I can respect that. Not to sure about his spy experience though.

BOT: What's President Trump's Secret Service codename again?
