Hi, new Android user here. Have a question about auto start apps. My phone is running the stock HTC firmware, unrooted. I do not want to root at the moment as it will void my warranty on my one day old phone. Phone is from Starhub, Singapore.

I know Android handles memory quite differently, so I do not need to use task killers. I am okay with apps that I have started still hanging around. However, I have stuff like stock widget, facebook, Thai keyboard etc auto starting when I boot. Never used them, do not plan to either. Unfortunately, I cannot uninstall them without rooting. Been reading on apps that control auto start items, found two that sound decent:

    Startup Auditor
    Watchdog Task Manager Lite

Any information from users about these apps? Any other way of controlling which apps auto run? I know android will not let you do it by default, hence threads like this (code.google.com).

    Thanks in advance.

(Mods please move this if I posted in the wrong forum.)
