Hi guys i have noticed that the transformer prime i sold out everywhere! So is it discontinued or is it just really popular and does anybody know where i can get one in canada?

I think the supply has more to do with the cost of the known issues and trying to fix them (too expensive). Asus legal submission for the Hasbro case and the Transformer Prime stated a total of 80,000 being sold into channels. That is the total. Of which they got a total of 2,000 preorders before launch. As Asus stated, this is an enthusiast device, so not intended for high mass production.

This may also explain why no effort to modify the back panel. The 300 is probably both the 101 and 201 replacement. The dongle probably can not be sustained in channels and is already taking a drubbing in the media. Perhaps the 700 is the ultimate replacement, but I doubt the current Tegra 3 can support it. Apple would not waste many millions on the A5X if the larger gpu was not needed to support the higher res display. The video output of the Tegra 3 is not the same (at all) as driving data calculations and geometry as well.

Here is an article about the 80,000:

I bought mine this saturday here on Penang Malaysia but most shops didn't have it. Found only 2 with stock, one piece each and only 32GB gray version. Internet shops here still have stock. There are some on amazon, ebay or lelong ( lelong.com.my - malaysian ebay portal).

guys at some point we have to call a spade a spade lol. I love my prime, even with its faults

gmail doesnt work, browser crashes constantly, no gps, wifi signal typical issues, etc etc

but i still use it, and love it.

But there is no way this thing is so popular that it cant be held in stock for long. Look at this article, claiming only 2000 were preordered + 80k in shipments:
Asus Announces A Ridiculous Solution For Its Flawed Transformer Prime Android Tablet | TechCrunch

court filings reveal that pre-orders for this poster child for Android 4 tablets (and it does look great) total a whopping 2,000 units as of a month ago, it’s kind of a letdown. That and 80,000 going to retailers worldwide

im not claiming its true, just saying there is no way 11tybillion of these things are being sold, and you cant find it anywhere. Its more likely retailers are sick of returns/exchanges and just want to wait for a better product from asus

its also possible, but not likely, asus has stopped new shipments.

Honestly, I don't know. I just saw it recommended on XDA to do a reset that way whenever there's an update. It can't hurt since you don't lose anything.

never heard of it. I didnt even realize i had a hole there lol

Considering the nature and source of the information, it is almost certainly correct. An audit of the findings if incorrect would be a breach by Asus and leverage for Hasbro in the court proceedings.
