Is there an app for Droid X2 that can put in a password for a single file (e.g. a file containing cc #s, bank pin #s, etc.), not a password for everything on the Droid. The Palm Treo I used to use had this feature.

I don't think it would be DX2 specific, if there was one it would be for Android phones in general.

with hiding pictures i use PhotoVault

    it works wonders
i have seen a rom offer password protection on Messaging apps, you would think a dev would update a messaging app to include password protection on it

I'm sure something like that will come along eventually if it's not already out there.

I am obviously not computer savvy as I have no idea what you're writing about. I'm just trying to find an app that enable me to keep private a file that, if I lose the Dx2, that particular file can't be opened w/o my password

ZDbox in the market will do the job and it's free. Also does a lot more.
