OK the 60665 is back, update your PRL boys and girls
what exactly is PRL? and how do you update this?
I did not know it was gone. I think my Sprint HTC Hero has had that PRL since I updated to Android 2.1.
Did your handset prompt you to update your PRL? Mine has not asked me to do anything of the sort.
Its the preferred roaming list. Go into settings, about phone, system updates, update prl. Any fresh 2.1.2 rom guys have an issue with this force closing, and then not updating if you retry? "The application OMADM (process com.htc.android.omadm) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
No did not ask to update, I did it myself, and I did not have 60665, mine was still on 60664 as of yesterday and I update it everyday to see, it did update 3 weeks ago to 60665 then it went back to 60664
i did mine and it updated to 60665. I had to do it twice but it worked.
oh i see....yeah i got that exact error message..does that mean we (root) cannot update that? or is there something else to do to get around it?
^ use the device self service app
i'm going to update it in a few...how does updating the PRL help us exactly?
lol im on 60663
edit** just updated to 60665, not sure what this does tho
i run the defense self service as suggested and i get the same error message that was posted earlier...
i'm on 60663
weeks ago it updated to 65000...for a few hours. the devices auto downloaded and reverted back to 60664. 60665 popped last week.
I am guessing you do alot of roaming? Cause i dont see whats so great about this version. Care to explain why this PRL is a must have?
My wont update, I just get the Error Code 1012, and I'm confused about what that is for, too >.<
The Preferred Roaming List (PRL) is a database residing in a wireless (primarily CDMA) device, such as a cellphone, that contains information used during the system selection and acquisition process. In the case of RUIM-based CDMA devices, the PRL resides on the RUIM. The PRL indicates which bands, sub bands and service provider identifiers will be scanned and in what priority order. Without a PRL, the device may not be able to roam, i.e. obtain service outside of the home area. There may be cases where missing or corrupt PRL's can lead to a customer not having service at all.
On many networks, regularly updating the PRL is advised if the subscriber uses the device outside the home area frequently, particularly if they do so in multiple different areas. This allows the phone to choose the best roaming carriers, particularly "roaming partners" with whom the home carrier has a cost-saving roaming agreement, rather than using non-affiliated carriers. PRL files can also be used to identify home networks along with roaming partners, thus making the PRL an actual list that determines the total coverage of the subscriber, both home and roaming coverage.
Update your profile first!
Still force closes, even when running from self service menu
you have to adb push the update for that steamingloaf.
adb push <location of file> OMADM.apk /system/apps/OMADM.apk
fixed OMADM.apk can be found on XDA
I updated last night, as well... downgraded my radio for better battery life.
Strangely enough, like I said in my previous, I already had this PRL update on my Sprint HTC Hero. However, this thread did remind me to check the PRL on my wife's Sprint Palm Pre. It was still on 60663.
Anyway, thanks for heads up. Good stuff.
My phone does not want to update... it just hangs there in the preparing services thing...
same here..... but when i updated i was at 63 and it only went to 64 and when i tried to update again it would do anything
Thanks! that actually helped! now I'm on 65!
