Help Problem: Notification Sounds Droid X

i have a droid X.
all of sudden when i get gmail mail. my phone vibrates,
when i receive texts or google chat message still just silent.

what am i missing everything i have down shows the notification sound that i have selected. nothing is on silent. is there a way to go back to default
