problem with my lg android after it fell and just a little water got on it

My phone fell and the battery can out and as I went to get my hands was wet and just a little water dripped on the battery. I dried it off and turned it back on and made a phone call after that, and in the middle of the conversation the phone get dead. What could have cause this to happen.
