Help Problems switching to a new sd card

Ok so I got a new, larger sd card. i never installed any apps to the first one because i knew i would upgrade. however, when i copy/pasted all the files over, I tried to turn on some apps, and got a message saying the app was not installed. i switched to the old card, and everything worked. so, can i just put everything back on the phone and then transfer? i just wonder because i never moved any apps to my SD, they apparently did ity themselves.

personally i move all my apps to my phone before switching and then after getting the new card i move it back to sd :/
