Problems with file transfer using Kies Air

I am quite new to android and I don't know whether I post on the right forum.
I am trying to transfer files (pdf) from my PC to my galaxy note using Kies Air.
I notice that transfer process is so slow. For a file sized like 15 MB, it takes like 3 minutes. Sometimes the file transfer fails.
I also notice that once the file transfer is finished, there's no notification that the process is already finished.
Another problem is that the file size uploaded is different from the original file size. For example, the original pdf file size is 46 MB. In Galaxy Note, the file size is 163 MB.
Do you face similar problems ?
Another question is can you give a suggestion about a better PC to Galaxy Note file transfer application than Kies Air that is free ?

Plug the USB cable into the phone and into a USB port on the computer (not on a USB hub). You should be able to see the phone on the computer. Just drag and drp the files you want to transfer - one at a time.
