Android has a great community of users, and this forum in particular has a great community. We all (most of us anyways) have day jobs and I think we can all help each other out.

Please post here what your profession is and how you would like to be contacted if another member has a question. I will keep the OP updated with username, preferred contact, and profession. I'll start:

What about serious hobbyists with insane amounts of knowledge about this and that? Some "Professionals" do not necessarily know as much as those that have been creating, producing, designing, restoring, collecting, arguing over, and worshiping this and that for decades.

I truly hate, for example, the 20 year old 'master photographer' that knows absolutely nothing about her profession, yet is worshiped by one and all, for example.

So how about it . . . anyone want to know how to design a linear amplifier, work with celluloid, make a dye transfer print, take a picture with an 8 x 10 inch view camera, restore a poorly neglected Bendix carb, make a stunning mural in a really dark room with smelly chemicals, make a gold or lead/galena mirror, learn how to turn a sphere, understand grilled issues and inverts, or banjo tuning and repair?

No banjo jokes please; they are easy and unwelcome unless they are funny as hell.

As for my profession, I write technical documentation for consumer electronics product assembly. Just completed a nice ESD Safety procedure document.

I like Bob Maxey's idea to share what we have some experience in but may not be "professionals" so I will share some of the other areas where I have a little experience in. If nothing else maybe I can give a point of view for consideration :)

I used to be in sales auto/insurance for 4 years, and restaurant service for 4 years also; but I do believe there are others in these industries that would be more suited to help with these, as they are still in the business... but if you have any questions for me I'll do my best to help.

You can send me a PM or find me on the boards. I spend most of my time in the Night Owls thread because I work during the evening 10-12 hour shifts.

I was also a gymnast for 5 years, and I enjoy MMA (Mixed Marial Arts) a lot too. I used to train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu many years ago (insert old man joke here, if you consider 29 "old" lol) so I enjoy a good grappling match :) If you have any questions regarding that I might be able to help.

Other than that I am a dedicated husband with two kids and one on the way. My son is autistic so if anybody has any questions about it or needs help with autism I am especially happy to lend any suggestions or ideas.

I can also assist with car sales, I was a salesman for 5 years. Everything from foreign to domestic, and including luxury cars.

If its not something that contains personal information, why not just post the question in the thread directly so others can read? Lets say for example a few people want to buy cars.. one person asks for strategies in obtaining the best deal in the thread, one of you guys answer; then everyone afterwards can take notes from that post rather than having to PM again. Plus this way (since now there are 2 car sales guys), other people in the same field can chip in their .02.

I haven't been incredibly active in the forum, and my profession isn't really anything I can "help" people with, but what the hell.. lol

I'm an event planner in fundraising for a major US university.

Actually, I would be most interested in learning about some of the mistakes us car buyers make.

I know a bike dealer that wanted 30,000.00 more for a bike than it was worth and oddly enough,k it sold.

So what errors do us cash buyers make? Like, the last car I bought, I opted for the tire rubber rust proofing, Mole spray, earthquake insurance, and carpet detangler. Was I a rube?

So I updated the OP. If I missed anyone just let me know. Also there were a couple that had a broad range of expertise so if you want anything specific in the OP just let me know.

Also I was a Nuclear Chemist for 7 years so if anyone has questions about radiation, radioactive materials, or nuclear reactors I have a lot of expertise in that area.

I loved chemistry. I had a love affair with certain compounds that go boom. That was back in the day, and I am less enthralled with things like potassium perchlorate, soduim metal, and nitrogen tri-iodide.

Still have all of my fingers, so I guess I was lucky.

Yup lol...but seriously people get excited and make impulse decisions when out car shopping. Thats the main way to screw yourself at a dealership.
