Programs running in background

It seems I have multiple programs that will start on their own and run in the background. The main ones are mp3 store, voicemail, sprint nav, sprint tv and qik. I haven't even ran those programs yet, but they're still starting up.

I went so far as to download ATK and kill them...only to see them running again 5 minutes later. I tried to put all the settings the same as what I had on my hero, but these running in the background are driving me nuts for some reason.

Has anybody else experienced this, or am I just going nuts?

It seems like all of the applications you described are system apps that were on the phone when you got them. They may be set to automatically run. I know you wont be able to remove any of them without the phone being rooted and having su access - but i may be wrong.

When you close them, it seems like the OS is just automatically reloading them.

Careful when you kill apps, it could cause some unwanted issues.

Those are the only ones I've been killing, damn sprint bloatware.
I was going to root it soon as I got home, but I let my friend check it out while I was driving and she selected the OTA, so now I have to wait to get rid of it.

    Good lookin out though.

so again how do we close the apps running in the background or is this something we shouldnt worry about, i dont want my phone hampered on performance because of progams running in the background

They're not really running, just loaded and in memory. If you kill them the OS then has to use resources to load them up again. Don't worry about it until you get root and can uninstall them.

In general, the only apps you need to kill are ones that won't let the phone go to sleep when you turn it off (not totally off).

Gotcha. I kinda noticed that after I was playing around with the system panel app. It showed them all listed as cached.

Can't wait for root so I can clean this bad boy up
