Help Projector with Nexus 7 2013?

Just purchased a Nexus 7 2013 hoping to use it with a projector. Unfortunately it is not working with my Epson ex3220 projector. I am using a slimport adapter with a high speed HDMI cable. I believe the resolution may be the problem. While the nexus has a 1920x1200 resolution, the Epson projector supports resolutions between 640x480 & 1600x1200. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there any adapters that modify the resolution before feeding to the HDMI?

You won't be able to use a simple adapter to modify the resolution. The resolution would only be able to be modified by a smart device of some kind since it will actually have to take the source image, resize it, then send it along in the new resolution.

I'm not sure if something like an HDMI to component converter would work, but it's possible that the projector would be able to deal with resizing the analog signal.

Of course, you could also use something like an HDMI to composite/s-video which would massively decrease your resolution.
