Hello. As everyone of us know, Galaxy Note 7 is out and pre-orders have been started. I wanted to know what are some pros and cons of pre-ordering a phone. Specifically, the price difference between pre-ordering a phone VS purchasing it at retail price once it's out.
    Thanks a ton!

The advantages of a pre-order are that (a) you have a phone set aside with your name on it on release day, which may be good if your area has a low supply and high demand. You know you'll get one on the 19th; and (b) free stuff that may or may not be offered after the 19th, such as a Gear Fit 2 or a 256GB microSD card. I scored that PLUS a $150 gift card at Sam's Club. I expect the pre-order price and the release day price to be the same and remain that way for while... there may be a discounted price starting around Black Friday, but that's all the way out into late November.

Unless I'm reading the Samsung promo website incorrectly, you have to purchase the Note 7 (or Galaxy S7 Edge) from 8/3/16 through 8/28/16 to qualify for either the 256 GB microSD Evo+ memory card or a Samsung Gearfit2.

While the purchase dates for the promos are true, they are also only good while supplies last.

I don't think there is any cons besides not having the free gift. Pro would be getting a free gift. Ha.

As mentioned earlier, pre-order isn't required to get the free gift, just proof of purchase before the 28th.

The only real con is the potential for the store to run out of stock before you can get to it ;)

    For the price - I'm not sure I'd be concerned about that - obviously - spending a ton on advertising . . . . .

I pre ordered direct from Samsung website.. and now it says "device will ship September"

So I guess the "con" for me is I won't be getting mine till several weeks after release day :(

Could be the carriers are running into that same issue by now too?

It's supposedly the 19th, same as here in the US.

With all the articles talking about the popularity of the pre-order, I didn't want to chance it and just wait for the day of release, so I pre-ordered in the store (which is pretty much the same thing it would've been, doing it online) w/ Jump On Demand (for T-Mobile). Now, I just hope that I get put into that "early shipment" category. If the phone ships after release day, I'll have to wait until I'm back from my trip.

It looks like (on T-mobile at least) that the Silver and the black are scheduled to ship August 18/19. The Blue August 23 - September 6.

Nope.i talked to the princess T mobile girl and she went over it like 3x..preoders ship out on 18th or 19th. No different dates for the blue and since i ordered mine like a minute after it became available for phone orders nationwide, im not worried at all. Probably may even be early shipped.

I purchased an S7 edge on Friday. The following Tuesday, the Note 7 was announced. I am doing an exchange and have a Note 7 with my name on it coming. 64gb memory and bigger screen with stylus did it for me. A bit concerned about the higher specs pushing the smaller battery a bit too hard but I am prepared to live tethered to a battery pack for the next year if needed.

Just received this text from T-Mobile:

"Get ready! The Samsung Galaxy Note7 releases next week. We're packing your T-Mobile order ###### over the weekend and will start shipping for delivery by 8/19. You'll see a shipping notification, but it may take several days for tracking info to be available."

Samsung Galaxy Note 7

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was launched in 2016, before subsequently being removed from production over battery issues.
