Right, I have to say I am a little tired of looking for solutions to this. Which is what brings me here.

I've been doing some online courses which provide me textbooks as PDF e-books. However, the files are password protected. Everything is ok on my Windows computers.

I can transfer the file and open it up on my Motorola Xoom just fine. The first page of the PDF document (which is normal behavior on W7 as well) asks for me to enter my student id and password, followed by clicking the unlock button.

In most cases I can enter the information, but the button is just not functional.

I've tried a few of the free apps as well as paid apps:

    These include:

    ezPDFReader
    RepliGo Reader
    BeamReader
    Adobe Reader
    ThinkFreeOffice
Fill&SignPDF docs or something like that.

I just want to be able to lie in bed and read off my tablet, but it's proving to be a real PITA thus far.

    Any help is much appreciated.

As I know, a password protected PDF doesn't need an ID, only a password.

So this PDF's may have DRM.
You could try Aldiko with its PDF DRM option.

Hmmm, I'll give that a try and report back.

    Thanks.

Yeah, that doesn't work either. I can enter information into the user name and password text boxes. The unlock button below that refuses to engage though.

I too am having the same problem. The online school I go to uses encrypted PDF files for their books and I would like to be able to read them on my Xoom tablet. I have tried using Bullzip PDF printer from my PC to reprint them, but ghostscript does't allow me to print a password protected PDF. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!!!

BeamReader claims to read encrypted PDF.
You could try it with the 10-days-trial for free :)

This thread is old and I don't remember all the details, but I tried at least 10 different apps, 7 of which were paid and claimed, in one way or another that it would read encrypted PDFs. None worked. Sort of given up on it to be honest.
