    Hi Folks,

I'm sorry to ask redundant questions which may previously have been answered. If they have, please refer me to the correct thread.

Ok, so here are my questions. And please understand, I'm a total noob to rooting.

    1. So, how exactly should I root my Public Mobile N860? I read the stickied thread on roots guide but the rooting and unrooting sections aren't linked.

    2. I read the flash recovery thread - I understand this. But, how do I make a backup of the stock rom (you know, in case I mess this up)?

    3. How do I go back to my stock rom if something doesn't work?

    4. Any good custom roms out there - ics/jb wise? If yes, how do I put these on?

As many details as you could offer - like step by step would be appreciated. Hopefully, answers to these questions, in a detailed manner, would encourage other similarly risk averse noobs to try rooting their droid?

    Thanks in advance folks!

Ok so to install recovery you want this thread(I know you where already there :p):

after you install recovery, then you you make a backup of your stock system.(the recovery does not affect the system)

you may also want to know about this thread for unrooting:

then once you have your stock backup and recovery installed(BTW I recommend TWRP), you can then go to this thread:

This is my ROM, unfortunately it is the only ROM other than the stock rooted deodexed for us public mobile users(Unless you really enjoy bugs :p) there is more development on the way and even Voltron will be updated soon as it is a work in progress... Hope all of this info helped you if you have any questions don't hesitate to send me a private message :) Happy Holidays!

It is the only option for Rooted users but it is a damn good one, my phone hasn't crashed or self-rebooted since I put Voltron. The only problem is that my DSPmanager apk makes youtube and winamp force close about once every 20 songs, which is not bad considering it actually boosts the volume of youtube and winamp without distortion.
