Help pulling my phone contacts off my moto droid

I need help getting my contacts off my Motorola droid so i can back them up and do a restore. Anyone know how? and no google only back up your email contacts to my knowledge. none of my phone numbers are in my email and i use my email alot so it would be nice to get my phone numbers and names off my phone and into my gmail.

if you go in settings and then data sync you should be able to tick the icon to tell the phone what to sync with google, all the android phones i know of sync all contacts with google
