Thanks for this site, I have been browsing and reading for a few weeks now, and just recently bought the HTC Hero and am loving it!!!

The only problem I am having is when I try to send a picture through picture message I get an error saying message size limit reached, you cannot attach this to your message. So in order to send a picture this way do I have to either:

a. change my camera settings to lower resolution?

b. is there a program or setting to automatically send a smaller image and keep my high res photo?

Obviously I would prefer option B as this camera rocks and takes some good pics.

Handcent will send using the full resolution images. I believe there is a 1 meg cap on files sent through the stock application.

Thanks, I will try using that for now. I was trying to avoid changing the stock programs on the phone since I like how stable it is currently. (Google Talk, MEssaging, FB, etc)

Isnt it weird that they include a 5MP camera but dont allow you to send them to someone else?

Agreed 100% I have to either crop my photos to send or take them at a lower resolution. How ridicilous.

I read a few older threads but i wanted to see what other users did.

It's pretty annoying pretty much any pic i take is going to exceed the 1 meg size limit it seems. Any apps that makes it easier to just snap a pic with our camera and them text it? Something that maybe downsizes it so no extra steps are taken other then selecting which pic you want to send?

Thanks

This drives me freaking crazy...I have just been croping the pic a tad bit and it sends but that's such a pain in the ass looks like I will be going to the handecnt app I didn't know it did resize the image that's great.

Cool, that is probably the only annoying thing i have really ran across with the phone so far. Include a decent camera, and they you can't text them to anyone hah.

Only other issue i need to work out is my camera, for some reason it seems very grainy, i even payed for Zoom FX and still have issues. I will probably make a post with some sample pics soon if i don't figure it out. I assume i should not be getting as much feedback/graininess in my pics.

What I did was just change my cam from 5mp to 3mp and then you can send them directly without needing a third party app. And from what I can tell, the pic quality still looks about the same.

The limitation is does not have to do with the phone itself its the network (Sprint) in this case that won't allow that large of an image. If you do not like Handcent which auto resizes (I use and recommend Handcent). I read recently that ChompSMS will also auto resize now.

Take smaller pics and they will be smaller in size. It is still going to be a 5mp picture, but the resolution will be smaller. Quality should be the same due to optics.

If they are grainy, then you are using an incorrect ISO.

I have since installed Handcent. I dont really use it except for when I need to send pics. I dont really care for it other than that.

Sometimes when I take a picture from the phone and try and send a text with the attachment, it says too large...
Any ideas?

can i take a high quality picture and crop it to send mms? ive had to reduce camera quality to ensure EVERY pic can be sent. all spec maxed out, i could only send about 75%
