you may not have a recovery installed, download rom manager and flash clockwork recovery

Superuser privileges and recovery are totally separate. Download ROM Manager and flash Clockwork recovery. Once it finishes flashing it, power your phone off and then reboot into recovery and you should be all good to go.

First things first... download terminal emulator from the market. Once its installed open it up and type "su" without quotes just so we can confirm your rooted. After you type su if it returns with # you are rooted, if it comes back with $ permission denied you are not rooted.

Also in your hboot at the very top does it say S-ON or S-OFF?

So now if you did confirm root and you have S-OFF lets move on... What version of SU permissions do you have? v2.3.6.1 is the most current version available from the market, so if your SU version is lower download the one from the market so it will update. Hopefully this is whats causing your problems... If you do in fact update it try reinstalling rom manager and try flashing clockwork recovery again and see if that helps.

    Let me know!
