    Clockwork recovery is a small recovery OS used for recovery tasks, you can back up your ROM incase anything goes wrong, you can wipe battery stats, install updates without loosing data and more.

    Swapping is to swap data thats in RAM to the SD card effectively giving you more RAM, and it should stop running apps restarting due to low RAM.
